Rumors have been swirling for a couple of weeks and now finally an official announcement regarding Netflix’s move to support the Nintendo Wii: the rumors have been confirmed.
Just like Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 owners, those of us with a Wii will soon be able to stream movies directly with the only requirements a minimum $9 per month Netflix account, an internet connection and Netflix’s special DVD necessary to stream its content.
The only downside of streaming Netflix content on the Wii is the console’s lack of hi-definition capability, leaving Netflix’s library of HD content unavailable to Wii owners. A specific launch date has yet to be set but Netflix did promise the service this Spring with further details to emerge over the coming weeks.
